The Vatican reaches out to atheists

The Vatican announced a new initiative. They want atheists to participate in a meeting or two in Paris. They want to open a dialog with us. And then they want to convert us to Catholicism, or something worse.

"I believe that the church should also today open a sort of `courtyard of the gentiles' where men can in some way hook on to God, without knowing him and before having gained access to his mystery," Benedict said in Dec. 2009.

The Pope’s goal is is to turn back the influence of secularism. He’ll do this by co-opting secularists (and atheists). Participate at your peril.

It would be laughable if it weren't so tragically stupid. These damnable shaman just don't get it. Once your mind is free from the bondage of ignorance, going back is the last thing an atheist could or would do. It would be tantamount to a free and prosperous ex-slave voluntarily going back to the plantation and servitude.

Why is this such a difficult concept for the deluded purveyors of stupidity?
I think I just answered my own question
All this sort of thing does is make sure that people continue to demonize us. Whenever I hear someone railing against the evils of secularism, I recognize that this is what serves to maintain anti-atheist bigotry.
Check out an interesting novel about the catholic church called On This Rock by Dave Leonard to see just how phony they really are.
