Shame on you Reverend Larry Reuter

Reverend Larry Reuter was president of Loyola Academy, an elite Chicago area Catholic high school. He’s admitted abusing one 18-year-old male student and is accused of abusing another.

Late Tuesday, a second man reportedly came forward and alleged that he'd also been abused by Reuter.  The Chicago Jesuit Province said it is investigating the claim and has contacted the Cook County State's Attorney.

Catholic leadership knew of Reuter abuse  for 20 years yet allowed him to continue leading Loyola Academy. It’s this internal hypocrisy and protectionist tendencies that motivate the public to demand reform.

from loyola academy larry reuter was made rector of loyola university chicago in the 90's up to 2002. he was a big gun in the chicago province jesuits. the provincial superior, i suppose, knew of d inappropriate encounter since the province "settled" d case with d high school boy. yet d superior appointed larry to the rectorship of a big jesuit univ community, not to mention that larry was also d vice president for university ministries. i guess this is part of the jesuit way of proceeding as they call it. perhaps it's time for the jesuits and d whole catholic church to change the "secretive" nature of autocracy. intelligent and liberal-minded jesuits must speak out against this outdated 16th century system of traditional way of proceeding.

The Jesuits are not trustworthy people. Just read the letter they sent out to the 27,000 Loyola Academy graduates.

If you think what Larry Reuter was evil, look into Fr. James P. Gschwend, S.J. He has his own issues and the Jesuit Provincial appointed him to investigate all the sex abuse claimes. The wolf was in the hen house. Gschwend is still out and about claiming he has a PhD. How is this happening?
I am an alumnus of Loyola Academy, graduated when Gschwend was in charge. I remember him as having quite a Napoleon complex. He sought out tall upperclassmen to discipline. Reuter was there, too. He had a function, but mainly it seemed his job was to crash any student gdet-together he could. We had our class prez expelled under suspicious conditions. Looking back on it, I could see where both these persons could be classified as predators. They probab ly left me alone because I was a loud-mouth.
Reuter was more interested in Social Climbing. Had run ins with him and Gschwend and I did not back down, never! 6 boys in my family and my father caught on to the McGuire crap, sent the last five to a better educational experience farther up the road. So long LA !
LA Class of 69. I had Reuter figuered as a phoney and social climber when I was only 16. Kind of makes you wonder who how I guy like that gets put in charge of anything.

It all made sense to me when I received the letter from Loyola Academy back in 2010. I graduated in 83. A Loyola Academy counselor tried to sexually abuse me in his office. He was trying to mess with the wrong guy. I told my parents AND I went to Reuter the next day. I told him what had happen. The evening after I went to Reuter, the counselor called me at home and threatened me. The counselor quietly disappeared after that. Reuter swept it under the rug. IMHO Both the Counselor & Reuter were dirt bags. I also understand the Counselor died of an AIDS related complication.
