8: The Mormon Proposition opens in June

8: The Mormon Proposition is an important documentary about California’s Proposition 8 and the LDS hate machine that funded the it.

The Mormon Proposition exposes the Mormon Church's historic involvement in the promotion and passage of California's Proposition 8 and the religion's secretive, decades—long campaign against gay rights. The film takes place in California and Utah as Mormons, following their prophet’s call to action, wage spiritual warfare with money and misinformation against gay citizens, doing everything they can to deny them of marriage and the rights that come with it. 8: The Mormon Proposition opens in theaters on June 18th, 2010, two years after the first gay marriages took place in California (June 17th, 2008).

I plan on going out of my way to see this even if I must stand in line at a art house movie theater to watch it.

The bumper sticker said it well: “Focus on Your Own Damn Family.” 8: The Mormon Proposition, reflects the efforts of those that created it and us that are in it, to hold OUR church accountable for the pain they knowingly inflicted on OUR families. The documentary IS NOT about disagreeing with their moral standards or their right to spend their money on issues they feel are important. It IS about hypocrisy; how our church (that says it is all about “being honest in our dealings with our fellow men”), knowingly created and funded dishonest ads to promote their own moral agenda; and (by their own admissions) hid their involvement. The Church stated in their own documents, that if the voters knew the extent of the Church’s involvement, it would negatively impact the vote. This documentary does not claim that the LDS Church did this alone, even though at its strong urging, its members (only 2% of the voters) donated over 70% of the money contributed and over 90% of the volunteer efforts. We would hope the displeased members of other groups, be they Catholic, Protestant, African American, Latino, Baptist…, would hold their leaders accountable as well. Please see it before you criticize it. It opens in selected cities June 18th, and on VOD. Available on DVD July 6th. Watch the trailer:http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/8t...

Criticize it? I can only assume the is form letter response to my post. I'm promoting your friggen movie and encouraging people to see it. At least read what I post before posting yourself.
Sorry Mojoey to leave that impression as I appreciated your article. My content was meant to address the issues raised on many other post, which includes harsh criticism from people who have seen only the trailer. Thanks for your continued support.
My wife and I rarely see movies in a theater. Between the outrageous ticket prices and the other hassles, it's much preferable to just see things on cable or buy the DVD. But this is one of the movies we will see when it comes to our area, even if it means traveling a bit to do so. In addition we'll buy the DVD--probably multiple copies so we can share them with our families. This deserves all the support it can get.
Yeah, spread hate, lies, misrepresentation, and misinformation, just like you accuse the LDS church of doing. Way to go. Why try to compromise and come to understanding when you can demonize and dehumanize your opponent. This movie fits "mob mentality" to a tee in its attempts to condemn and vilify anyone who disagrees with its proponents' views, while painting a totally distorted and twisted picture of its perceived enemies. This doesn't reflect well at all on its proponents.
