Youth pastor Shane Horning sentenced

Youth Pastor Shane Horning was sentenced to a year in jail and five years probation, but was given credit for time served so he will see no more jail time. Plus, he does not have to register as a sex offender becuase "he felt remorseful". Someboy is drinking the coolaid.

The sentence was part of a negotiated plea between prosecutors and Horning, which allows him to not have to register as a sex offender, according to Horning's defense attorney Fred Thiagarajah. Horning has no prior sex offenses on his record, and immediately admitted to the crimes, Thiagarajah said.

At least he lost his job. I wonder if he will become a Baptist? They hire convicted child molesters all the time.

This is an odd deal. This is something like the cover up within the Catholic church. If this guy moves to another part of the country and i the church does do a background check, will they find that he plead guilty? Was the plea done so he could continue to go to church? I know many of those on sex offender list aren't allowed in places where children are regularly attending.

the problem is, he was an attractive 25 year old guy who the girls in youth group swooned over. (and yes, I personally knew him and the girls in question) So, yeah, a 16 year old gave him a blowjob (I am sure there are plenty of other 16 year olds blowing 25 year olds willingly. So, it's not like he "assaulted" anyone. He merely never said "stop". I'd hardly call that a sex offense.

Shane is a great guy. He just made a bad decision. None of you knew him, so stop saying he was an atheist, and you obviously haven't done any research. He was at a Methodist church (not Catholic), and obviously loved God very much. He will forgive Shane, even if he never forgives himself.

Are you dense? Did you read the comments? Noboday said a thing about him being an Atheist nor did they say he was a Catholid. They did call him a child molester and pedophile... well if they did'nt they should have.

I don't care if he was "a great guy", he still off easy. Maybe the next time they will throw the book at him? We've found that they tend to become repeat offenders too.

Shane Horning is a lying hypocrite. He is a cheat...He cheated the youth of his church(es)...his family...his friends(few remaining)...and most of all his fiancee. Those girls didn't go after him...he went after them. And, we'll bet there are more little girls...(they are afraid to come forward (and then get painted with the same brush...his girlfriend(in denial) has painted the victims with)...She must be desperate....Whoa!!! Look out you parents in Temecula California...he lives among you!!!

I realize I'm way behind here, but I have known Shane for many years. He was a great guy, however...

He didn't just make one bad decision. He made MULTIPLE bad decisions. There are more than what were reported. In fact, at one point, he had multiple women...the ones I knew were of age...that he was sexting with, all while he was asking his girlfriend to marry him. He has a problem and needs help.

I can understand that people make mistakes but to commit a sexual act with a minor isn't a mistake but a crime. You are the kind of person that makes it easy for people like him to commit these acts. He was given a break that most people wouldn't have been given and the judge and others should be held responsible for any future crimes against minors he will commit.

he made a mistake that was uncalled for, maybe multiple times, none the less how many of you were even one day over 18 and even kissed someone underage!!! youre all in the same boat, whether youre one day,one year, or 10 years over 18!! whether its a kiss, b.j. or true sex, its wrong!! i grew up with shane and am bummed by his decision and im sure he is also, not cause he got caught, but because he let so many people down!! and yah alot of people you may even know get that plea bargain daily!!!
