Pastor pulls a gun on son

My first story of a new day: Pastor accused of pulling gun on son at Church.

The son of a well-known Alcoa pastor has taken out an order of protection against his father, claiming he was threatened with a gun during an argument at a church over his lack of church attendance. The order of protection was filed by 32-year-old Michael Louis Colquitt against 60-year-old Joe Colquitt, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

I don’t really know what to say besides wtf? Joe Colquitt must suck as a pastor if he must force his own son to attend on fear of death. I’m willing to bet there is more to the story.

I want to say that it is unChristian to do such things, but it is actually very Christian to do such things. God, "Love and obey me, or I will "F" you up."

I have to agree there has to be more to this story then noted so far. If the gun was drawn just because of failure to attend church enough, I would say someone needs mental help.

From what I’ve seen over the years, there might not be anymore to this story. To keep up their image and keep the donations coming in, a lot of them would demand the whole family attend their church, and sit there with a big happy-face, and loudly bark out amen. I’ve even seen them force their own children into marriage (no babies born out of wedlock in pastors’ family). I even remember one paying his adult children to attend his church on Sundays; one of them was a friend of mine, who had become an atheist.

This mentality has a lot to do with ego and power; but in reality, if you’re selling your sheep something that your own children aren’t even buying – the sheep will start feeling; if this guy can’t even keep his own children in line, what the fuck can he do for me!

Maybe there is more to this story. Years of abuse by a dad that thought he could bully his children into doing whatever he wants, the child (now a man) was just sick of being bullied and cussed the pimp out. What preacher/husband in his right mind would put his wife up in front of the church and humilate her for her unfaithfulness...check out the preacher's best friend. . .. uh oh!

I was thinking something made in Israel...you know, a Desert Eagle, or Uzi.

But maybe you're right...maybe something like a derringer that he could wear in his garter :)
