Pastor Mark List arrested

Pastor Mark List is the associate pastor at Danville Christian Academy. Pastor List is alleged to have engaged in a lengthy sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

The Vermilion County State’s Attorney Office filed charges Thursday of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, criminal sexual assault — position of trust and indecent solicitation of a child against List with bond set by the courts at $20,000.

Something sounds unbiblical here… I wonder what the real story is?

Thanks for posting this - hypocrisy watch, indeed! But I have to ask about using "engaged in a lengthy affair" for the link. An affair is consensual. Even if the "relationship" between the pastor & the student was consensual, it's still illegal for adults to engage in sexual acts with minors of either sex. I read "affair" as minimizing the pastor's culpability, which I don't think you mean to do.

Juliana... I agree. I was not trying to imply the relationship was consensual. I'll make a correction.

Thanks :)
Actually the age of consent determines if the sex act is legal or not. The only time it is completely illegal is if the adult is in a position of authority over the person under the age of 18.

I have to agree the whole story like most of these types of events won't come out unless there is an actual trail. Even then, because of the age of the victim much will be censured. I don't really have a problem with that as long as it isn't used to try and paint the victim as some criminal.
i had mr.list as a teacher i was in shock!
Consent or no consent. If this alleged relationship took place in any way, shape or form it was wrong and illegal. I am sure the school will try to keep it as quiet as possible. Things like this tend to destroy churches and schools
I went to grade school with Mark List at First Baptist. At that time there were two classes for each grade. He was always in the same class as I was. I could not believe what I heard when I found out. He was just a good little kid when we were young. He never got in to trouble unlike me and was a good student. I never would have thought. I certainly hope that this is not true. When I knew him, he was very small. If he is still a small guy, he will never make it in prison.
