An odd bit of e-mail

I get a lot of odd e-mail. This came in yesterday.

Here's why you will burn in Hell for eternity minus one (because only heaven is infinitely long).  The word atheist is a sin, because it's "i" before "e" except after "c" and when sounded as "a" like in neighbor and weigh.  If only atheist was spelled correctly all atheists might be lounging in clouds wearing white togas, right?  Missed it by that much, ninety-nine (remember Maxwell Smart?)

I normally don’t write back. But I’m temped to write Flexcrush1 and ask what the hell he has been smoking.

It's either far too obscure humor that I just can't get, or the person must indeed be smoking some very potent stuff.

I read it five or six times before I figured he had hit the chronic hard.
Does this mean that "theist" is also a sin? Belief in a god or gods is actually offensive to said deities?

No. I think the rule only applies to atheists.
Badger3k: that's significantly cleverer than what I was going to say. Nonetheless, I'm delighted that a shorthand mnemonic for English language spelling has attained its rightful place as a full-blown moral norm.
I don't think Flexcrush is very well;.
LOL - What's the frequency, Flexcrush??
Can I get the name of his pusher please?

I don't understand this at all. So now any word that isn't spelled as he wants it to be is a sin? This is really reaching for a reason to say someone is going to hell. I guess since all his other reasons didn't work for him, he had to fall back on a rule that is and isn't used. There are enough words where e comes before i to show it isn't a set in stone rule. Their, theist, atheist are a few and know there are others just not up on them all.
That has to be an attempt at humor. It just has to.
Infinity minus one is still infinity.... Or am I missing some obscure humor here?
I guess all guys named Keith are in trouble too.

I never trusted Keith. Now I know why.
Deity itself is sinful then. This sets us up for one of those logic puzzles. The kind that made Norman the Android's head explode in Star Trek.

For what is a man without freedom.... YouTube has its uses.
So, only English-speaking atheists are going to hell? If my primary language was Spanish or Mandarin I'd be okay?
He really should lay off the snake handling. The venom overload is showing.
