Thought for the day

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? -Epicurus, philosopher (c. 341-270 BCE)

Well, it goes even farther then that, eh? Does god know everything (omniscient) or not? The bible says he knows how many hairs are on my head and when the sparrow falls and also a mans life from start to finish before he lives it. But apparently he (she/it??) didn't know, before he made the world, that Adam and Eve were going to screw up. Wazzupwidat? Or did he know and just went ahead and made the world anyway? If she didn't know then she's a dumbass. If it did know then it's a worse monster then Hitler, Mao, Genghis Kahn and all the other mass murders rolled up in one. Because if you believe he did know, then he also knew (if you're a christian or muslim) that he would have to torture gazillions of humans in hell for evermore. I know of some christians who actually believe that their god creates billions of souls for the express purpose of burning them in hell forever. So much for a loving father, eh?
Epicurus was 2300 years ahead of his time.
He's one of my heros.
