Youth Pastor rapes 14-year-old girl

BenjaminCaldwell I wonder about the wording of my headlines sometimes. Youth Pastor and Christian athletic director Benjamin Douglas Caldwell has confessed to raping a 14-year-old relative repeatedly over a period of three months. That means I can say "Youth pastor rapes 14-year-old girl" and still be accurate, right?. Because, I'd hate to get the facts wrong or paint Caldwell as guilty when his innocence is still in question on the  6 counts of Statutory Rape, 3 counts of Statutory Sex Offense with a 14-year-old, and 8-Counts of Taking Indecent Liberties With a Minor.

Police say Caldwell also admitted he was the youth pastor of Hayworth Wesleyan Church and the Athletic Director of Hayworth Christian School. According to the church's pastor, David Emery, Caldwell has been dismissed from his duties. Emery also said the victim was not a student at the school or church.

His church wasted no time in firing him. I am sure they are worried that he might have abused children at the church or at the School. There will be a lot of uncomfortable interviews going on over the next few weeks. I hope the church had the foresight to put safeguards in place. They so rarely do though.

I predict 30 years in prison if convicted.

They don't put the safeguards in place because they know something we don't: No real Christian would rape a 14-year-old girl. And yet, mysteriously, this stuff keeps happening. Go figure.
I have found nothing in any news article stating the girl was a relative as written in you blog. Not that it makes any difference, either way a tragedy.
As a child I was sexually abused by a catholic priest which was one of the reasons I was an atheist. Then at the age of 39 I found the love of God and Jesus. Being a Christian is the best thing that has ever happened to me. The hatred of these people has left me and I have a better understanding of what a Christian is. Everyone INCLUDING Christians are not perfect, they are no better than anyone else except they are forgiven through God's grace. I am not making excuses for this man, what he is said to have done is apalling but just because he claims to be a Christian makes him no different to you or I. Let's stick to facts here this is not the work of God.

I think we can agree that this is not the work of God. I do not believe there is a God. The facts regarding your deity's involvement do not exist. This leaves the bureaucracy which claims to represent God on earth. One of the key tenants the preach is the moral superiority of those who believe in Christ over those who do not (like me). When a pastor violates the most basic principles of the christian faith by violating a child, I hold the man accountable... and his church. I also like to point out that being a christian does not guarantee ones morality, if anything, it does just the opposite. It removes accountable which gives pastors the ability to commit horrific crimes without oversight. .
