Targeting Online Predators

I found a small article which illustrates how vulnerable young children are to Internet Predators. Men are pigs, especially those who get off on our children.

The story also profiles pedophile pastor Timothy Scott Richerson, who used Myspace to stalk a 14-year-old girl. Richerson was a Baptist, so it all makes sense.

I too spent many years immersed in theological studies for I demanded to know the truth ... and well ... I got my wish. Now my goal is to make the godly elite admit how much they enjoy manipulating those that follow their doctrines without question.

Parents need to step up and realize that these guys like Richerson are out there. The victim stats may be low – as reported – but that doesn’t mean these guys aren’t pout there trying… it also doesn’t mean they haven’t contacted your kid or your kid hasn’t passively chatted with them thinking it’s no big deal. Parents need to both communicate with and monitor their kids. How can you talk to your kids about internet safety if you don't know how they use the internet? If you REALLY want to keep your kids safe online, you need to know what they are doing on the computer. You need to know if they have several social network profiles – which, trust me moms and dads out there, it’s a lot more common than you think. You need to know what websites they go to daily and who they talk to. Blocks and filters are easy to get around. But if you have monitoring software, like our PC Pandora (www.pcpandora.com), you will know everything they do and will be able to talk to them about it. If you aren’t monitoring and don’t know what they are really doing, how can you be sure they are safe? How can you be sure they are using the Internet responsibly and not putting themselves into bad situations?

This article makes lot's of great points and I find the information extremely helpful. There's no way around, parents need to closely monitor their children's online activity. There are way too many dangers lurking on the internet. I feel that the best way to go about this, is with a parental control app. I have been using a parental control app called Familoop Safeguard, which I have found to be a wonderful app to monitor your child's online activity on Android and iOS devices.
