The sign in the image says Death Valley. We were there one year in the middle of summer when we went to Las Vegas. While driving through Death Valley it was 114, we left the van running with the a/c going and would hop out real quick, take a picture then back in the van. There was some pretty unusual landscapes there, especially the whole gigantic field of nothing but lumpy dried mud (Salt Pan). Looked like another planet.
Sure..you've decided to vacation in front of one of those "Ring the Bell with the Mallet" strength testers at some cheap carnival.
I suppose it has it's benefits: cheap entertainment, lots of cotton candy, corn dogs, fried dough; and maybe a glimpse at the "hoochie coohie" girls through the tent flap.
But seriously, if you're that desperate lemme know and I'll float you a few bucks and you can rent a room at the Motel 6. ;)
Baker is on the way to Las Vegas. On the way out it was 110. On the way home it was 108. I stopped one more time before heading crossing the pass back into the LA basin. It was 112. When it is that hot blacktop road starts to get soft.
I was in 121 one in needles without air conditioning. It was horrible.
