It's official, George Bush's faith based abstanace program is a failure.
Researchers found none of the abstinence-only programmes had an impact on the age at which individuals lost their virginity, whether they had unprotected sex, the number of sexual partners, the rates of sexually transmitted diseases or the number of pregnancies.
As if anyone ever thought abstinence was an effective way to reduce AIDS infections, battle unplanned pregnancies, reduce abortions, or even help make sure kids have safe sex. Abstinence does not work alone. Only a fundie would think otherwise.
I think you misspoke(typed). Teaching abstinence-only is not necessarily "an effective way to reduce AIDS infections, battle unplanned pregnancies, reduce abortions, or even help make sure kids have safe sex."
ReplyDeleteHowever, practicing abstinence would definitely reduce STD transmission (AIDS included), prevent unplanned pregnancies, and reduce abortions. How do you get pregnant if you're not having sex?
because you can teach abstinence all you want. Kids still have sex. Thats what the study shows. duh...
ReplyDeleteIt's been shown to be a failure. When they implemented the plan in Texas, W's home state, teen pregnancy increased. Fact is students need to be armed with information and have access to preventative resources in order to realistically address the risks they face.
ReplyDeleteIf abstinence only education included masturbation and porn, then I'd be for it!
ReplyDeleteThey are both the safest ways to experiment.
I agree with Intergalactic Hussy. Once again the Bible-nuts are trying to impose primitive morality on modern times (cf. the sad story of Onan).
