McCain might as well throw in the towel now, because I'm not going to vote for him. Everyone knows that if I don't vote for you, well then you don't have a chance of winning - because I'm your Joe average libertarian atheist voter.
But seriously - wtf is McCain thinking? courting Dobson, Falwell, and complete end times nutball John Hagee?
Adding to the mix is Sen, John McCain, who had been persona non grata for the Religious Right since 2000 when he blasted the Bush campaign for “pandering to the outer reaches of American politics” and labeled Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell “agents of intolerance.”
McCain has since made up with Falwell and has even made overtures to James Dobson, after Dobson said he would not support him. In fact, McCain’s attempt to ingratiate himself to the GOP’s base has progressed to the point where he is openly bragging out it:
Is McCain this desperate already? Note to McCain: The only way you will ever have a chance of beating Clinton/Obama this election cycle is by keeping away from these evangelical nutballs while tying to find a few real Christians to back your campaign. Until then - I'm afraid you are not presidential material.

Basically politicians don't care about who they get into bed with, as long as they serve their immediate purposes.
ReplyDeleteDoes that sound cynical? Or realistic?
I have been interested about Hagee for a while now.I didn't know about a connection with McCain, thank you. You see, blogs are so informative. I am getting so depressed hearing about all the politicians rubbing shoulders with these strange people.
