Concrete in spades

I never get used to how ugly unplanned urban growth can be. Pioneer and Carson in Hawaiian Gardens is great example. A chain link fence keeps people off the gravel, and nothing but blacktop in every direction to facilitate vehicle movement. Add a little public art and the setting just gives me a headache.

Hawaiian Gardens is a stones throw from Cerritos, but the difference is like going from California to Mexico. Trust me, there is nothing “Hawaiian” about Hawaiian Gardens.
