Baptist youth pastor Jonathan Tyler Giles pleaded guilty to charges he raped a 16-year-old girl who was a member of his youth group.
Jonathan Tyler Giles, 26, entered open guilty pleas Friday morning in Judge John H. Gasaway's court.
Giles was charged with three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure, sexual battery by an authority figure and two counts of soliciting a minor in an October 2009 indictment.
It’s not good news. Giles pleaded out to lessor charges and will not have to register as a sex offender. That means that after he does his time, he’s back into a Baptist church near you. He can be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
